Why are Students Heading to European Universities?

Over the years, undergrads and school leavers have set their sights on Europe. They are increasingly seeking out accredited European universities for higher education, away from Harvard, Yale and Stanford, which have been traditionally popular choices. Students are just as likely to choose Berlin or Sweden to enroll in a mechanical engineering program as California or North Carolina, as long as the school has the accreditations needed. Here are some reasons for the steady shift from North America to Europe.

European University – Excellent value for money

Tuition cost is a major reason why students are leaning towards European universities. The European educational system is supported by the state, and consequently, fees are either affordable or non-existent. Indeed, it’s the lure of free higher education that brings students to European shores. In comparison to their American counterparts, a European university charges a whopping 75% less in overall tuition fees. Scholarships worth billions of Euros are also up for grabs.

European University - Quality education

European universities have ranked consistently on the list of top universities compiled by authoritative sources. Some, like the Imperial College London, date back to the 1900s, while relatively new ones like European University have built a solid reputation among students within and outside the EEA.

The emphasis on research and access to technologically-rich infrastructure are just some reasons why students choose an accredited European university for Masters and PhD programs. Strict accreditation standards and a well-rounded approach to learning, which includes seminars, industrial trips, field work and internships, are other positives.

European University - Cultural diversity

Europe is a potpourri of languages and cultures. Students are exposed to French, Swedish, German, Italian and other languages. They have the opportunity to interact with fellow students from all across the EEA and abroad, which is an educational experience in itself. No other continent offers such a stunning and immersive cultural landscape as Europe, from the Acropolis and Notre Dame de Paris to the Louvre, Stonehenge and the Colosseum.
